Accurate lighting simulation study with 3D Models generated from Point cloud data.

There are many known benefits of developing BI-Models from #point #cloud data or #Scan #to #BIM such as basing #as-#built data for use in renovations projects, getting correct measurements of large sites, use in #FM #systems, etc. Lately, we have been involved in a few projects that involves using #BIM developed from #point #clouds for using it to #study #existing #lighting conditions (both artificial & natural) and then utilizing #models for optimizing existing #lighting conditions.


For a #Building #information #model to mimic existing #lighting #conditions, few factors should be taken care while developing #model from #point #clouds:

1. Accurate #location and #orientation of existing #building on #real #world #coordinates.

3. Defining and assigning #accurate #materials to all the #surfaces present in the model.
